Pythian Global Experts Lead Women in IT Awards Shortlist

Gender gaps are nothing new in the business world, and this holds true across the technology sector. Although the presence of women has progressively increased since the 1980s, women held only 25% of computing jobs in the U.S. in 2020. And as of this summer, they hold 26.7% of tech-related jobs, and this number decreases as women climb the ladder.

Despite these seemingly discouraging statistics, the progress being made by women hasn’t gone unnoticed. Organizations such as Women in IT Series work to close the gender gap by highlighting the achievements of women in this sector. From data and digital transformation to sustainable tech, CITO of the Year and other categories, the dedication of women in shaping the world of IT is being recognized.

We’re happy to announce that two Pythian experts made the shortlist for the 2022 Women in IT Awards Canada for their contributions and leadership in business and technology:

Kasia Wakarecy, Senior Director, Operational Innovation, was shortlisted as a Data Leader of the Year. As a candidate in this category, Kasia has successfully deployed data technologies, delivered effective data strategies, leveraging her specialized skills and knowledge of related technologies for over two years.

Santa Di Stefano, VP Delivery Operations & Customer, was shortlisted for both the Advocate of the Year and Woman of the Year awards. These nominations recognize role models with a proven track of “advancing career opportunities for women for two or more years.” Candidates in these categories are recognized supporters of other women in technology, have a trackable impact on their business, and demonstrated outstanding business and/or technology-focused achievements.

Lastly, Pythian was also shortlisted as Employer of the Year for our efforts in championing diverse talent, and in creating an inclusive working environment.

As a company, we’re committed to helping support women along their professional journey and in achieving their goals. So, no matter the outcome, we’ll continue to help expose our workforce to opportunities in IT by hiring the best candidates. Our team will also help ensure that equal gender distribution in this sector becomes a reality,  and that women continue to have a voice in tomorrow’s technological advances.
