Overview

Regardless of industry, companies are experimenting with AI, but many donʼt know how to start incorporating it into daily workflows. From generating use cases, to developing Gemini prompting skills, to measuring results, Pythian is helping companies in retail, manufacturing, and consulting — and many others — accelerate their AI journey with Gemini for Google Workspace. On average, employees are saving up to four hours per month (or more) on routine tasks, freeing them up for more complex, value-added work.

Teams across departments — from sales and marketing to HR, finance, and IT — are spending a significant amount of time on tasks that could be automated or even amplified with AI. In surveys with multiple customers, Pythian found that employees were spending several hours every week on mundane tasks: drafting and writing emails, finding emails and managing their Gmail inbox, managing files in Drive, creating and managing sheets, and organizing tasks and tracking progress.

What we did

Assess the impact of Gemini on user productivity and determine the feasibility of company-wide adoption. This includes:

  • A pre-workshop survey among employees testing Gemini for the first time.
  • A workshop with a transformation lab, including hands-on use cases.
  • A Gemini live demo session.
  • A post-workshop survey.

Technologies used

  • Gemini for Google Workspace, Gemini App

Key Outcomes

For companies who have completed the QuickStart workshop, the use of Gemini in Google Workspace is saving time and increasing productivity.

  • At one construction and engineering firm, many employees relied heavily on Gmail for day-to-day work, and the pre-survey results showed that users were spending about five hours a week drafting and summarizing emails. With Gemini, users are able to shave off two hours a week on Gmail-related tasks.
  • A second company, a mechanical contractor in the construction industry, found that users were spending two to five hours per week in Sheets for data updates and file management; with Gemini, users are saving two hours per week on those same tasks.
  • A third company, a retailer, found that users who were spending two to five hours a week on meeting prep are saving an hour each week with the use of Gemini.
“Wayfair has thousands of SQL applications and petabytes of data across our architecture. As we thought about modernization and leveraging Google Cloud, we relied on Pythian to be the experts on how to do it from an architectural perspective and then execute with our data team in actually getting it done.”
