Data Leads to Discovery

Hi Data,

Our love story began when I was a young kid. It was love at first sight for me. Remember when we compared NBA stats and looked in Beckett Basketball Card Magazine to predict which cards in my collection would increase in value?

When I was an entrepreneur, and in companies I worked for, you helped me understand what customers wanted and how they behaved so that I could provide them with the best experience.

We had our fallouts when I didn’t have the means to better understand you. Back then, I didn’t think you could provide me with all the answers I needed when I stood at a fork in the road and had to make a decision. It made me doubt our relationship because I had to rely on my gut feeling. Despite our struggles, I knew you would always be there for me, even when our relationship wasn’t always perfect. In the end, I just simply couldn’t do what I do without you.

My favorite thing about you, Data, is that you always tell the truth. You never sugarcoat anything. I can ask you if something is working or not, and how I can improve it. I have always had the opportunity to create and implement solutions with ease as I grew up because you gave me opportunities to do so. My dear Data, you never lied to me or tired of hearing my questions!

There’s always something new to learn. There’s more to discover with you, no matter how much I think I know. My dear Data, I know the future is full of uncertainties, but I know that with you by my side, I will always be able to make the right decisions, make changes, retest – and retest – and you will always be there to guide me through the storm.

Yours forever,
