Why Oracle Database@Google Cloud is the Future of Multicloud Strategy
A new partnership between Google and Oracle is bringing together one of the largest hyperscale clouds with one of the most popular global database solutions for a true multicloud strategy. With Oracle Database@Google Cloud, you can now combine Google Cloud technologies with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This partnership provides an additional cloud migration pathway to businesses that use Oracle. It also offers a way to modernize Oracle databases, either through migration or hybrid cloud solutions.
What is Oracle Database@Google Cloud?
Oracle Database@Google Cloud provides several options for direct access to Oracle database services, deployed in Google Cloud data centers. You can now deploy strategic Oracle database services in Google Cloud, including the Oracle Exadata Database Service, Oracle Autonomous Database Service, and Oracle Database Zero Data Loss Autonomous Recovery Service. You can also run self-managed Oracle databases on Compute infrastructure, which is now supported by Oracle on Google Cloud.
Oracle Database @ Google Cloud
This new solution allows customers to provision fully managed database services using Google Cloud commands. Organizations can easily hit the buy button (and use Google Credits for Oracle Database services) through Google Cloud Marketplace. With this fully managed service, customers can focus on higher priorities, knowing their versions, patching, configuration, backups, frequency of snapshots, and more is being taken care of.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Cross-Cloud Interconnect
Organizations using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Database Cloud Managed Services no longer need to pay for egress charges. With a low latency Cross-Cloud Interconnect, you can also deploy workloads across both OCI and Google Cloud regions with no cross-cloud data transfer charges. Customers can now transfer data into Google Cloud for greater business advantage, such as building a data warehouse (e.g. BigQuery) or utilizing their OLTP or operational data with GeminiAI.
Unlock Greater Flexibility for Your Oracle Workloads with Google Cloud's Enhanced Deployment Options
You can now leverage your existing Oracle licenses to transform and run your Oracle ecosystem on high-performance, reliable Google Cloud compute infrastructure. By harnessing the power of Google Cloud compute infrastructure with self-managed databases, you can ensure your team controls Oracle installations, versions, configurations, backups, monitoring, observability tools, and patching.
You can still continue to use the Google Bare Metal Solution (BMS) to run Oracle databases on dedicated infrastructure for high-demand workloads requiring Oracle RAC. Compute, storage, and networking is a fully managed option under BMS.
Oracle Database Migration to Google Cloud with Enhanced Flexibility
With Oracle Database@Google Cloud, you can reduce the complexity of migrating Oracle databases to Google Cloud. You don’t have to build new environments with new licenses; you can bring your existing workloads and applications from your existing Oracle databases and deploy them in Google Cloud with the option of possibly reusing your existing licenses. Plus, you’ll get simplified workload deployment via compatibility with on-premises Oracle Database and Oracle Exadata deployments.
There’s also a simplified purchasing experience in Google Cloud Marketplace, which allows you to buy Oracle database services using your existing Google Cloud commitments. And you can still continue to benefit from Oracle’s Bring Your Own License (BYOL), where applicable. Aside from providing more options and tools to help with the complex tasks of migration and licensing, it also unifies the customer experience with integrated support—so you get the best of both worlds.
Leveraging Google Cloud’s AI and Security
For those with traditional database environments, this new offering can help accelerate your migration to the cloud and modernize your IT environment. You can simultaneously leverage Google Cloud’s advanced capabilities and Oracle’s Database and Exadata technologies to accelerate innovation and develop new applications in Google Cloud. And, by operating two clouds as one, you’ll gain the advantages of multicloud—such as faster insights—without the expense and complexity of managing two separate clouds (and two accounts).
Connecting Oracle data with Google’s AI services can help you take advantage of Google Cloud’s fully integrated AI stack and AI-powered applications, including Vertex AI and Gemini foundation models, along with Oracle Database 23ai. Oracle data can be integrated with Google Cloud AI tools to automate workflows, optimize business processes, and unlock new opportunities such as advanced analytics, while benefiting from Google Cloud’s security and low-latency environment.
